*We live where we can speak our minds about our government without winding up in jail. We can question the very fiber of our political leaders' character - on TV! in print! - and while it may be considered rude, it does not bring secret service men to our doors at night. How many countries would tolerate that?
*We live in a country where every 4 years – whether we like the result of the election or not – we have a peaceful transfer of power. Or, if power doesn't transfer, people say, "Well, in another four years we'll have another go." In places like Syria, they are fighting and dying simply to hold an election at all.
*We live in a country where we – and hundreds of thousands like us – can meet openly to worship Jesus whenever we please, not secretly, not in fear of reprisal. In places like China, Iran, and myriad others, a Christian’s public expression of faith is punishable in ways we cannot begin to comprehend.
* We live in a country where people every single day are risking their lives trying to get IN. What other country can say that?
Our “normal lives” are possible because of those who have served to protect this land with which God has blessed us. Your service to our country, your sacrifice, your “standing in the gap” for our nation, has been the guarantee on the freedoms established at the founding of these United States so many years ago. To those who are serving, or have served, in the armed forces of this great nation, “Thank you.”
Blessings,
