Let’s take those moments as reminders to pray for the coming election and the future of our country. Lift up the voters. Pray that the veil will be lifted from all of our eyes and we will see and discern the truth of God’s will for our land. Pray that heart-motives of candidates will be revealed. If ever the WWJD mindset was needed it is now. For, if we are truly followers of Jesus Christ, then our hearts yearn to follow His perfect will. Let us be “Imitators of Christ” and check our votes with the true path illuminated in His Word.
Pray for wisdom and discernment of truth, then pray for the courage to follow through and stand up and be counted. Pray that every Christian will pray, then put feet to those prayers and actually vote when the time comes.
Let us also pray for the candidates. Pray that they will be open and transparent with the good people of America. What they say should be what they mean, no matter what the audience or the political pressure. Pray that God will bless our country and bring the right leaders into power, from sea to shining sea, whose decisions will cause His hand of blessing and protection to surround us and our neighbors and families in this nation.
Finally, because we are told that the direction of our nation begins with our own direction, let us fall to our knees and repent of those things which separate us from God then let us rise to do His will and be counted with unity and purpose as citizens of this great land.
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
So many across the world fight and clamor for the right to vote, to have a voice in their country's government. Let's not disdain our right by neglecting to use it.
