Thousands of people read that verse this weekend – thousands.
The funny thing was the reactions we witnessed. Oh, yes, some hurried away as soon as they realized that the art all has Scripture verses on it. In fact some reacted very strongly, nearly running away! Then there were the people who appreciated the artwork, admiring the pictures. Of course, dear to our hearts indeed are the brothers and sisters of the family of God, who asked about the books, leafed through Papa’s sermon notes, and were excited about our mission of getting God’s word into people’s lives.
Honestly, however, the times that made our eyes tingle with tears and our hearts rise up to close off our throats were the moments when people looked at us and said things like, “I don’t know why I stopped reading the Bible. You know, I think that’s what is missing.” or, “My grandma used to take me to church. I should go again. I WILL go again.” or, “Read the Bible every day? Hey, that’s a good idea!” or (coming back after 20 minutes), “My fiancé and I just decided that we are going to use these books to help us read God’s word every day, when we get married in a month.” Those moments were special, because we knew they were appointments set out beforehand for us to meet. We had intense times of encouraging people in the Lord. We had complete strangers share their hearts with us in amazingly transparent ways. We saw God working, drawing people to Himself. We stand in awe of our Holy God!
How was our weekend? Blessed!
“ For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” - Eph 2:10
