I needed to be encouraged today . Some days are just like that. We have all had days where we have tried, and worked, and feel tired and ready to spiritually sit down. But God brought along some amazing encouragement today. First He sent a literal note, that arrived in my email inbox. Good news simply echoes in our hearts and heads, doesn't it? What a joy to get a piece of good news! But, then when I turned to my Bible, I realized that there was even better news waiting for my thirsty soul. "The Lord on high is mightier..." He is mightier than our problems, He is mightier than this old world's woes, He is mightier than whatever it is I am facing today. In fact, a devotion from Vol 1 said just the other day:
" ... the Psalmist measures the power of God in two ways, first by the ear and then by the eye. He stands upon the seashore and listens to the thundering roar of many waters and proclaims His God to be mightier than them all. He watches the waves as they beat against the rocks with relentless energy and is reminded that Jehovah excels in power all forces of the universe.
The waves of the sea, however mighty, are limited in power. Jeremiah 5:22 says, “‘Do you not fear me?’ says the Lord, ‘Will ye not tremble at My presence who have placed the sand as the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass beyond it? And though its waves toss to and fro, yet they cannot prevail; though they roar, yet they cannot pass over it.’” The attack of the sea is not mightier than the resistive power of the land. If the sea seems to conquer at one point, the land conquers at another. And so, God has also seen to it that the attack of the evil one upon us shall not be fiercer than we can resist."
Yes, the Lord is mightier. And when I forget that, and begin to wonder and worry, I need only open the Good News of His word to be reminded! May this be a reminder to you today too - just in case you could use a little "Good News"!
